New York City has passed four pieces of legislation aimed at increasing efficiency in the city's existing buildings, representing the first comprehensive strategy by any state or municipality to aggressively decrease carbon emissions from the existing building sector. These initiatives are expected to decrease New York City's overall emissions by almost 15% by 2030. In a separate process, the Green Codes Task Force has just delivered a report with over 100 recommendations for how NYC can green its codes. Ms. Kerr and Ms. Beber will present the status of the legislation and describe the process currently underway to update the City’s energy code.
New York State’s Deputy Energy Secretary will brief us on state legislative programs’ goals, status and projections and a representative of the NYS Department of Public Service will discuss the status and implications of various current Proceedings before the Public Service Commission and rulings on various System Benefit programs.
