Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager at the Energy and Climate Center at Pace Law School will serve as a senior project manager and/or senior principal investigator for existing contracted research at the Energy and Climate Center ("Center"). In addition, the Senior Project Manager will be expected to spend a portion of time for the identification of and response to future contract research opportunities relevant to the ongoing operations of the Center.

The duties of the Senior Project Manager include the following:

  • Conduct research, analyze information, develop databases and models as required, and prepare final reports and other contracted project deliverables in fulfillment of the Center's contracted research obligations;
  • Manage the administrative details of contract execution, as for example organizing and participating in project team meetings, workshops, conferences and preparing monthly reports to the contractor;
  • Coordinate the work product of project sub-contractors, Pace Staff and, if applicable, Pace Law School student interns;
  • Manage existing contracted research projects in the area of energy policy analysis;
  • Insure that contracted deliverables are completed in a timely manner; and
  • Upon request, serve as the liaison between the award grantor or their agents and the Center.

In addition, the Senior Project Manager will be expected to devote significant effort to identifying and responding to future contract research opportunities.  These duties involve the following:

  • Assist in preparation of responses to requests for proposals (RFPs), program opportunity notices, solicitations for contract research, etc., with local, state, federal, private and not-for-profit entities in the area of energy policy and environmental analysis; and
  • Identify new funding opportunities for the Center that will permit it to capitalize on existing strengths or to expand its base into research areas where the organization could reasonably compete for contract research.

The Senior Project Manager is also expected to assist the Executive Director in setting and executing the mission statement of the organization. In addition, the Senior Project Manager can be expected to represent the Center at conferences, trade shows, workshops, industry association events and other venues where participation of the Center is deemed relevant to furthering the organization's mission. The Center is affiliated with Pace University School of Law and serves an integral role in training the next generation of environmental and energy lawyers. The Senior Project Manager will be expected to participate in various law school activities on behalf of the Center and assist in the training and supervision of the Center's law student interns.

Education and Experience

A qualified candidate for Senior Project Manager will have the following educational background and work experience:

  • A Master's Degree or higher in a field relevant to the conduct of advanced level research and analysis in the area of energy generation, energy end use, environmental impacts and analysis, or public policy research and analysis.
  • At least 5 years of progressively more senior level participation in contract research examining policy or regulatory issues pertaining to energy generation, energy end use or environmental policy analysis pertaining to the generation and use of energy.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in regulatory processes in energy policy decision making, such as a utility rate case, a proceeding of an energy or environmental regulatory body, or similar experience in a formal policy setting.
  • Knowledge of the operation of energy markets and an understanding of energy economics.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, ACCESS and similar is highly desirable. Experience in building and executing models in Excel or similar analytical software utilities is a significant plus.

Energy Engineer

Lime Energy seeks a highly qualified Energy Engineer for its New York City office.  The Energy Engineer identifies and analyzes measures that increase efficiency and improve reliability of electrical and mechanical systems in existing buildings. In addition, he/she will often lead the process of implementing these measures for our clients.

The ideal candidate will possess: degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or engineering technology; at least 5 years experience in engineering design and/or facilities operation, a broad knowledge of building systems (HVAC, process, lighting, etc.); understanding of utility (electric and gas) tariffs, rate structures and incentive programs; experience in performing energy audits and energy calculations (spreadsheet, DOE 2, Trane Trace, etc), lifecycle economic analyses, and construction cost estimating; experience in project management and construction oversight, and experience in commissioning, operator training and start-up of new systems or re-commissioning of existing systems.

Good communication skills and demonstrated competence in technical writing are a must. Experience with energy performance contracting or design/build projects is a plus.

The New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks a qualified candidate to manage its Division of Citywide Energy Conservation (DCEC) and play a central role in developing and implementing new programs to achieve the City’s ambitious energy reduction goals expressed in PLaNYC.  DCEC is the City’s primary energy cost control and energy efficiency entity. It is responsible for procuring electric, gas and steam for all City facilities, dealing with utility companies and processing payment, developing and monitoring the City’s annual energy budget, promulgating energy conservation guidelines and programs, and coordinating these efforts with other City agencies. DCEC handles accounts that serve 80 agencies and more than 4,000 buildings.  The selected candidate will serve in the in-house title of Deputy Commissioner for Citywide Energy Conservation.  Under general executive direction, with a great deal of latitude for independent initiative, judgment and decision, the Deputy Commissioner for Citywide Energy Conservation will be responsible for development of new policies and programs along with the efficient and effective management of the City’s energy budgeting, procurement, and bill-paying functions.  The Deputy Commissioner will have major responsibility for coordination of energy functions with other City entities.
