Subject Matter:

New and diverse ways of thinking are required for organizations to respond to rapidly changing market dynamics, evolving customer needs and increasingly complex technologies. Diversity in the workforce supports organizations in meeting these challenges. Over the past decades, 20% of all engineering graduates have been women, but with 40% leaving the profession, just 13% of today’s engineering workforce is female. Through presentation and discussion, we will explore what organizations – and individuals – can do to identify, recruit, develop, retain and promote diverse talent.

Maryanne Campbell has been with Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) for 21 years serving in various sales and marketing positions; currently, she serves as Director, Strategic Initiatives. Maryanne was elected to serve as the Region I Vice President of the AEE (her two-year term begins in January 2019.) In 2010 Maryanne was selected to serve on the inaugural International Board of Directors for the Council on Women in Energy and Environmental Leadership (CWEEL), a division of AEE. She serves as Chairperson of the Programs/Events & Sponsorship Committee.

Einah Reza M. Pelaez is a Deputy Traffic Section Manager/Associate at HDR. She has over 19 years of experience in traffic engineering, accident/safety studies and land use studies. She’s originally from the Philippines and came to the United States in 1990. She is the incoming President of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Metropolitan Section and was recognized as one of the top 10 Young Professionals in 2008 and part of the Class of 2015 Leadership ITE. She is currently the President of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Professional Section of NY.
