Speaker Profiles:

Daniel Donovan, CEM. CBCP, CDSM.
Energy Manager / Senior Stationary Engineer
Department of Citywide Administrative Services. (DCAS)

Educated in Ireland, St. Goban’s vocational college, and immigrated to the USA in 1987. Spent the next 15 years working with various companies installing boilers and other HVAC equipment before joining the city work force with the Department of Education in 2002.

Transferred to DCAS in 2004 as an oiler before becoming a stationary engineer in 2005. He was promoted to Senior Stationary Engineer (Chief Engineer) in 2009. Performed the duties of the Chief Engineer in 4 City buildings before being promoted to Assistant Director of Mechanical Maintenance and Operations for DCAS.

Moved over to the Energy Managers Position in April of 2015. Currently oversee several mechanical upgrade projects in the 55 buildings in the DCAS portfolio. These projects include high pressure and low pressure boiler replacements; Co-generation plant installation; chiller replacement; cooling tower and condenser water replacement; Retro Commissioning and Energy Commissioning Measures; Lighting upgrades; Steam trap replacement; BMS installation and upgrades; and several other energy saving related projects.

Dan also worked at Memorial Sloan Kettering cancer center in the facilities department. He has several years’ experience as an operator with high and low pressure boilers, larger and smaller tonnage refrigeration plants, steam turbines, and all pertinent equipment.

Dan teaches a Boiler High Pressure prep course and he has instructed the HVAC module portion for the BOC course for CUNY Building Performance Laboratory.

Augury

Brian Charles is an Enterprise Account Executive at Augury, where he works closely with clients to optimize machine health by leveraging Augury’s PdM solutions, including technological assessment, project scoping, and through solution implementation. Prior to joining Augury, Brian worked for Evapco, a leading cooling tower manufacturer, and American Water, the nation’s largest investor-owned water company. His years of experience have brought him through mechanical rooms in just about every industry across a number of different roles ranging from Technician to Sales Manager.

Shaun Carnes is Vice President - Sales and Marketing for the Frank Tracy Division of North Side Power Transmission Corp., an industrial products distributor that has served commercial office buildings, medical institutions, and infrastructure-related markets in New York City for over 100 years.

An industry fixture for nearly 40 years.

Over the past decade, with both Regal Power Transmission (formerly Emerson Industrial Automation) and Frank Tracy, he has turned his attention to helping engineers and technicians select, install and maintain energy efficient belt drive components that reduce energy consumption, lower maintenance cost, and minimize system downtime.”
