Energy is in the news like rarely before, from war in the Middle East to gyrating federal energy policies. This panel will address the forces that impact New York’s energy costs, natural gas supply and grid reliability.

New York's ambitious renewable energy goals have faced a succession of expected and unexpected challenges. Federal and state grid operators are forecasting falling reliability, with difficulty in meeting power needs during extreme weather events.

With one of the oldest electric grids in the country at a time of rising electric demand, New York was already facing a difficult situation without the loss of new wind power supplies and the failure to significantly scale up energy storage.
