About The Event
In our first chapter meeting for 2019 we will explore the issues and challenges associated with expanded electrification, renewable gas and gas system reliability. Topics for discussion include: how the use of heat pumps for year-round heating/cooling will affect NYC’s carbon footprint and peak power and peak gas requirements; future regulatory trends governing refrigerants; issues to consider when planning system upgrades given these trends; reliable sources for carbon-free electricity.
We will also hear details on Con Edison’s proposal to invest in renewable natural gas and offer new incentives to customers who upgrade their heating equipment or install heat pumps to reduce natural gas usage. Con Edison's goal is to offset peak-day gas demand by 84,500 decatherms.
Speakers:
Richard Leigh, PhD, PE, LEED AP – Professor of Physics, Pratt Institute
Marc Zuluaga – Managing Director, Steven Winters Associates
Chris Raup – Director, Customer Energy Solutions, Consolidated Edison
