About The Event

New renewable energy projects, both solar and wind, seem to be built more frequently than ever. Utilities and large companies have been signing contracts all over the country, but what can homeowners and businesses do in the NY area if they don't have the space for a windfarm or a solar array? New regulations and new companies have sprung up to create local renewable energy projects that allow customers to buy their production. Called community energy projects, these developers have opened up a whole new opportunity for smaller customers to buy their power from renewable resources. This session will explore the technical, regulatory and business developments behind community energy. It will cover the challenges to development in the metropolitan area, and hear from those who are finding the solutions.
